Questions answered through Roberto Valderrama’s written observations and Bentley’s published specifications.

What caught Roberto’s attention?

Michael from Bentley invited me to an SUV unveiling. Tucked away in a corner of the event, another car immediately caught my attention: the Bentley Supersports.

I got to sit inside it, look it over closely and film videos around it. It was absolutely stunning. Having the chance to spend time with the car gave me a reason to bring it here, to Throttle Link, and tell the story behind the footage.

What did Bentley build?

Its low profile and sleek, aerodynamic lines drew me in. There was so much visible carbon fibre to take in, along with the rims and spoiler. Even tucked into that corner, it had my attention. I couldn’t walk away without a closer look.

The invitation brought me to the unveiling; the car gave me something else to explore. I could move from looking at it from the outside to sitting in the cabin, then get back out and film around it. Inside, I found myself looking at the seat stitching, the dashboard and the rest of the interior. The way the door opened stood out too. Those were the details I wanted to spend time with and capture on video.

Why does this car belong in Throttle Link?

Bentley calls it the Supersports, and the factory details explain how far it takes the Continental GT formula. Production is limited to 500 cars. It has two seats and rear-wheel drive, with a carbon-fibre rear cabin replacing the rear seats.

Bentley’s published specifications list a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 producing 666 PS and 800 Nm of torque, with a quoted maximum speed of 199 mph. The company also specifies carbon-ceramic brakes, a titanium Akrapovič exhaust and an extensive carbon-fibre bodykit. Bentley also lists a weight of 1,995 kg, with carbon-fibre components contributing to the weight reduction. These are Bentley’s factory figures and equipment details.

What interests me is the direction those choices take: fewer seats, power sent to the rear wheels and a car shaped around a more focused driving brief. The limited run makes it rare. The decisions behind it make it worth looking at closely.

Why it belongs here

Throttle Link grows out of the people I meet and the machines that get my attention. This story began with Michael’s invitation and became my own encounter with the Supersports: sitting inside, taking a closer look and filming a car I found stunning.

That is the connection I want the videos and this story to carry. Here was a Bentley I had the opportunity to experience up close, and a reason to share that experience with you.
